The RCCP welcomes Modernising Scientific Careers as long as
its implementation ensures it leads to competent practitioners and
it does not delay the urgent need for statutory regulation of clinical
physiologists and the other aspirant groups.
The Department of Health’s plans for redesigning educational and career
pathways must absolutely ensure that the current high standards of education
and training are
maintained under an appropriate regulatory framework in the context of
ensuring patient safety and maintaining high quality care.
The RCCP will be considering the report in more detail before formulating
its formal position at its Council meeting on the 23rd March. However, in
the meantime,
if you have any comments or you would like to feed into this process, please
do not hesitate to let us know.
